lives in Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main
Steffen Zillig is a German artist based in Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main.
His works collage videos, photographs, and drawings from widely different sources
in often complex political visual narratives—“social streaming” was the label Frieze
coined for his practice. A founding member of the artist collective Galerie BRD,
he has exhibited, written, and published on the artist’s role in contemporary society.
Since 2014, Zillig has been co-publisher of Edition Uhlenhorst, a German book series on
art and politics. He writes for magazines including Texte zur Kunst and Kultur & Gespenster.
Tod einer Kritikerin by Annika Bender (his former joint pseudonym with Dominic Osterried)
will be published by Sternberg Press in March 2017.
